ATC01 - TOOL & CUTTER GRINDER / OPG

We are looking for a Tool & Cutter Grinder / OPG to join our Manufacturing department. The ideal candidate will have previously experience in all or some of the following manual grinding machines: Deckel S11, Weikman OPG, Jones & Shipman 310 or Cincinnati. Time served as an apprentice or have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within an engineering environment.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Manufacture and regrind cutting tools.
  2. Monitor product quality throughout process.
  3. To dress and maintain grinding wheels and make machine adjustments and trouble shoot set up issues.
  4. To maintain product specifications and quality by inspection using the correct measuring equipment / devices.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Essential

  • Have good attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of work.
  • Understand and interpret requirements accurately
  • Good literacy skills
  • An industrious individual with ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and advance their potential to becoming an important member of the manufacturing team.
  • Previous knowledge of cutting tools preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.

Quality Technician - Quality Technician

We are looking for an additional Quality Technician to be responsible for conducting inspection testing and ensuring procedures are followed during the manufacturing process so items comply with their drawings and to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have an engineering qualification and a minimum of 3 years’ experience within an engineering environment as well as the ability to read drawings and work with measuring equipment.

Key Accountabilities

1.         Ensure items worked are to drawing / customer specification and all supporting documents are completed to Guhring standards
2.         Ensure a high level of quality is maintained throughout each production process
3.         Work closely with the Tool control section to check tools received are suitable for required processes.
4.         To maintain measurement and reporting processes to ensure compliance with Guhring specifications and standards.
5.          Ability to meet customer deadlines and prioritise workload.

Engineering Apprentice - Engineering Apprentice

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Apprentice to join our successful business as one of the leading manufacturers of precision tooling in Aston, Birmingham. The ideal candidate will be keen to progress in the world of engineering and have a passion and desire to understand the workings of machinery and precision cutting tools.

Details

1.  4-year course – 1st year will be full time at our selected Training Centre.
2.  Further 3 years will consist of working on-site at Guhring with a day release each week to attend the training centre.
3.  You will become trained in the use of CNC and manual machinery, measuring devices and other tools associated with the manufacture of precision tooling.

We are looking for CNC Cylindrical Grinding Setter / Operator to join our Manufacturing department. The ideal candidate will have an engineering qualification and a minimum of 3 years’ experience within an engineering environment as well as the ability to read drawings and work with measuring equipment.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Programming, setting and operating cylindrical grinding machines - Grinding experience on CNC Studer, Tru-Tech and manual grinders would be advantageous
  2. Grinding carbide and HSS from drawing to customer specification
  3. Manual cylindrical grinding as and when required
  4. Use various inspection equipment.
